Terms and Conditions
1. Subscription and Billing
Subscriptions are offered on a monthly or annual basis and are billed on a recurring basis in advance.
Subscriptions are billed on the same date as the original sign-up. By subscribing, you authorise automatic recurring payments via Stripe until your subscription is cancelled.
Your billing date is fixed and is based on your original sign-up date.
All subscription payments are non-refundable except where required by law.
2. Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions:
- “Listing” refers to any business listing or event listing published on the platform
- “User” refers to any individual or business creating or managing a listing or event
3. Cancellation Policy
Cancellation requests must be submitted by email to: hello@whatsinhayling.co.uk
You must include:
- Your name
- The email address linked to your account
- Your business name
Cancellation requests that do not include the required information may delay processing.
Cancellations are not immediate and will be processed within 2 business days (Monday to Friday).
Cancellations will take effect at the end of your current billing period. Your listing will remain active until this date.
No refunds or partial refunds will be provided for any unused time.
4. Subscription Expiry and Listing Changes
When your subscription ends:
- Your business listing will be downgraded to a free listing
- Paid features will be removed
These changes will be applied once your subscription has expired.
5. Payments and Failed Payments
All payments are processed securely via Stripe.
If a payment fails:
- Your listing may be suspended
- Paid features may be removed
- Your account may be downgraded
We may retry failed payments in line with Stripe’s payment retry process.
We reserve the right to restrict access to paid features until payment is successfully received.
6. No Guarantee of Results
What’s in Hayling is a directory platform designed to promote local businesses, services and events within the Hayling Island community.
We do not guarantee any level of:
- Enquiries
- Leads
- Website traffic
- Business performance
Results may vary depending on a number of external factors beyond our control.
7. Listing and Event Content Responsibility
You are responsible for all content submitted to your listing or event, including:
- Accuracy of information
- Legal compliance
- Permissions for images, logos and content
You confirm that you have the right to use any content submitted.
We reserve the right to edit, reject or remove any listing, event or content at our discretion.
8. Listing and Event Approval
All business listings and event submissions are subject to review.
We aim to approve or decline submissions within 2 business days (Monday to Friday), however this may vary during busy periods.
If your listing or event is not approved, you will receive an email notification confirming this.
We reserve the right to reject any listing or event that does not meet our content guidelines or platform standards.
9. Right to Suspend or Remove Listings
We reserve the right to suspend, remove or restrict listings or events where necessary, including but not limited to:
- Inappropriate or offensive content
- Misleading or inaccurate information
- Complaints from users or third parties
- Non-payment or failed payments
- Outdated or expired events
10. Event Listings
Event listings may be submitted to promote local events taking place on or around Hayling Island.
By submitting an event, you agree that:
- All event information is accurate and up to date
- You have permission to publish the event and any associated content
- Event dates, times and details are clearly stated
Event listings:
- May be free or paid depending on the selected option
- May include links to external websites for further information or ticket purchases
You are responsible for contacting us to update any event information after submission.
We are not responsible for:
- Changes to event details after submission
- Event cancellations or postponements
- Any loss or inconvenience caused by incorrect or outdated information
Event listings will be automatically removed once the event date has passed.
We reserve the right to edit, reject or remove event listings at our discretion.
11. Advertisements and Listing Features
Listings may display advertisements depending on the selected package.
- Standard listings may include advertisements, including those from competing businesses
- Premium listings may remove advertisements from their own listing
We may update how advertisements are displayed across the platform from time to time.
12. Featured Listings and Placement
Featured listings and placements across the website are not guaranteed.
Positioning, visibility and ranking may:
- Rotate
- Change
- Be updated at any time
We do not guarantee any specific placement or level of visibility.
13. Featured Homepage Listings
Featured homepage listings are offered as a one-off paid placement at the top of the homepage.
- A maximum of four businesses will be featured at any one time
- Featured listings are displayed in a random order
- On mobile devices, listings may appear stacked rather than side by side
We do not guarantee a fixed position or order within the featured section.
Featured placements run for the agreed duration and are non-refundable once live.
We reserve the right to adjust layout, design and presentation of featured listings as part of ongoing platform improvements.
14. Free Listings
Free listings are provided at our discretion and may be limited in features and visibility.
We reserve the right to:
- Modify or remove free listings at any time
- Limit features available to free listings
- Update the structure or availability of free listings without notice
Free listings may include advertisements and reduced functionality compared to paid listings.
We reserve the right to remove free listings that are inactive, incomplete or no longer relevant.
15. Changes to Pricing and Services
Free listings are provided at our discretion and may be limited in features and visibility.
We reserve the right to:
- Modify or remove free listings at any time
- Limit features available to free listings
- Update the structure or availability of free listings without notice
Free listings may include advertisements and reduced functionality compared to paid listings.
We reserve the right to remove free listings that are inactive, incomplete or no longer relevant.
16. Account Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account, including login details.
Any activity carried out under your account is your responsibility.
17. Platform Control and Listing Ownership
All listings and events are hosted on and managed within the What’s in Hayling platform.
Users do not own listing placement or platform functionality. We reserve the right to modify, update or remove features and structure at any time.
18. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, What’s in Hayling shall not be liable for:
- Loss of business or revenue
- Loss of data
- Errors or omissions in listings or events
- Any indirect or consequential loss
19. Platform Availability
We aim to ensure the platform is available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
We are not liable for temporary downtime, technical issues or maintenance periods.
20. User Conduct and Communication
We expect all users of What’s in Hayling to engage with the platform and other users in a respectful and professional manner.
Users must not:
- Use abusive, offensive or inappropriate language
- Harass, threaten or intimidate other users or businesses
- Submit or share harmful, misleading or disruptive content
We reserve the right to suspend or remove access to the platform, including listings and events, where behaviour does not meet these standards.

By using What’s in Hayling, including creating, managing or interacting with a listing or event, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
